The last week has been driving me nuts. I love listening to talk radio and especially Glenn Beck. If you know my family you know that we love our sarcasm. Therefore I can get along with everything Glenn Beck says. This last week has been killing me. Hearing about this bailout bill and all of this garbage that our lovely politicians are doing is driving me to think that the world is going to come to an end at any moment, especially with a commie like Barrack in the White House.
I guess my frustration comes from my knowledge of our history. Throughout the history of the United States we always hear of great quotes from all of our great presidents and leaders of this nation. They seemed to have great things on their mind and inspired us as a nation to reach to higher heights. How many times have we heard of the Gettysburg address, or "Give me liberty or give me death," or "Don't ask what your country can do for you, but ask what can I do for my country." For those who have seen "National Treasure," remember the part where he is quoting the Declaration of Independence? Once he finishes he says, "Nobody talks like that anymore," Why are our current leaders so uninspiring, and conniving? Duh, we like mediocraty, we don't care enough to do much now days.
I have watched parts of the debates and they drive me nuts. Nobody can seem to give a straight answer. They all have to give shady answers that can be interpreted as being for or against an issue. They just want votes, and an office at our expense. They tell us what they want to hear, then once in they do what they want.
Here the first bailout bill was shot down, because we the people didn't want to save these high rollers that mismanaged their companies. Then, they get another bill in and get it passed on the weekend when everyone wasn't aware of what is going on. So, we now get to float the bill for these money grabbers like AIG, Fanny May and Freddy Mack. Then, after we hose ourselves for these guys, AIG has the audacity to plan a huge corporate getaway, on our freaking dime. Thankfully we found out and screamed our disapproval. Anyways, I digress.
Why is it that we can't seem to find an inspiring leader among the population of the US? What has happened to them all? Have they gone the way of the dodo? I feel like every national politicians, republican or democrat will tell you what you want to hear. They are just professional liars.
I don't know, I guess I long for someone to come along and inspire me and make me feel some national pride again. I am proud of our past nation, but our current nation drives me crazy because we don't seem to have any kind or foresight or hindsight. I like the analogy of the frog in the pot. Where if the frog is dropped into a pot of boiling water it will immediately jump out, but if you put it in cool water and then slowly heat it up it will die because it will have gotten used to it until it is too late. We are silently giving up our freedoms and then one day we will wake up and it will be too late.
